Hugh Hefner, Founder of Playboy Magazine Who Helped Usher Sexual Revolution, Dies

Playboy founder Hugh Hefner has died at 91 years of age, according to a tweet by the official Playboy Twitter account posted earlier today.

Hefner’s son, Cooper, who is the chief creative officer of Playboy Entreprise, confirmed the news with the following statement: “My father lived an exceptional and impactful life as a media and cultural pioneer and a leading voice behind some of the most significant social and cultural movements of our time in advocating free speech, civil rights and sexual freedom.

He defined a lifestyle and ethos that lie at the heart of the Playboy brand, one of the most recognizable and enduring in history.

Hefner was a revolutionary, as his son mentioned in his statement, he was an advocate for sexual freedom and also freedom of speech on that topic.
